Held Wednesday, October 30, 2019, this year's second tourism strategy study group session featured a guest lecture on issues related to regional joint efforts in a time characterized by disjointed individual action by Mr. Masaaki Waki, General Manager of the Future Creation Department of Kanagawa Prefecture / Representative of Yonnanakai.
Held on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, this year's first tourism strategy study group session featured a guest lecture on park management efforts at Osaka Castle by Mr. Michihiro Yoneda, Director of the Osaka Castle Park Center and Director/General Manager of the Facilities General Affairs Division of Osaka Castle Park Management Co., Ltd.
The Tenth Tourism Strategy Study Group was held on Wednesday, February 14. As the closing session for this academic year, this session was divided into two parts. The first featured a description of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s tourism policies by Mr. Tomoyuki Matsumoto, Manager of the Planning and Coordination Section in the Tourism Division of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Bureau of Industrial and Labor Affairs. In the second part, Mr. Haruo Shimada, Chairman of Tokyo Metropolitan University discussed an overview of the 2018 program along with the participants.
On Wednesday, January 16, the Ninth Tourism Strategy Study Group welcomed as speaker Mr. Seiichi Kondo, former Commissioner for Cultural Affairs. He discussed Tokyo’s Appeal, Viewed from a Perspective of History of Civilization: Consideration of New Tourism Strategies.
The Eighth Tourism Strategy Study Group was held Thursday, December 20. Mr. Seiichi Mizuno, Representative Director of the Institute of Marketing Architecture, spoke on the theme of “Cultural Power over Civilizational Power: Toward a Tourism that Values Effectiveness over Efficiency.”
The Seventh Tourism Strategy Study Group was held Wednesday, November 14. Hisao Taki, Chairman and Representative Director/CEO and founder of Gurunavi, spoke on the theme of “Building Attractions in Tokyo.” His presentation was followed by a discussion with attendees from participating companies.
The 6th Tourism Strategy Study Group was held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. Ms. Motoko Ishii, lighting designer, spoke on “Design of Lights," which was followed by discussion with the attendees from participating companies.
The 5th Tourism Strategy Study Group was held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Mr. Takaaki Umezawa, Chairman of A.T. Kearney K.K., spoke on “Tokyo's Future City Vision ‘NEXTOKYO' and Tourism Destination Strategy," which was followed by discussions with the attendees from participating companies.
The fourth Tokyo Tourism Strategy Study Group was held on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Mr. Yuichiro Kohno, Director and Executive Managing Officer of Mori Building Co., Ltd., spoke on the theme of “Towards more attractive urban tourism,” followed by discussion among participants from member companies.
The Third Tourism Strategy Study Group was held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 with Prof. Yoshiaki Honpo, the former (first) commissioner of the Japan Tourism Agency, delivering a lecture on the theme of “Tourism policy of Tokyo."
On Thursday, May 17, 2018, Tokyo Metropolitan University held the second Tourism Strategy Study Group. The Group invited Hiromi Tagawa, Chairman of the Board of JTB Corp., who delivered a lecture entitled “Changing the World with Tourism!" Following the lecture, Mr. Tagawa had discussions with the Group participants.
Tokyo Metropolitan University (Chairperson of the Board of Trustees: Haruo Shimada) launched the Urban Challenges Strategy Organization Tourism Strategy Project on April 1, 2018 and held the first Tourism Strategy Study Group on April 18.
